Sun is Out: L'ETO Belgravia

Fiiinaaalllllyyy the day has come where the weather has reached above 20 degrees!! Just when I was losing hope, it has given light to my day like an abusive boyfriend coming home with flowers. I decided to make good use of today so I pick up my phone to call Deniz. "Come and meet me for lunch, we have to go outside it's beautiful!".

In Heaven
I already knew where I wanted to eat, I'd walked passed it numerous times on Fulham Road but never had the chance to go in and now they have opened a new branch 10 minutes walk from my house in Belgravia. If you are a fan of Jak's Cafe on Walton Street or the Ottelenghi chains then you will love this. L'Eto is a small cafe that serves a variety of desserts that will make you feel like you have gone to heaven. If sweet isn't what you are after then they also have a sit down breakfast and lunch menu and a ready to eat food counter.

Deniz already had lunch so he picked something from the dessert counter which proved to be very difficult so we ended up with two...

Their famous Honey Cake; one of our picks

Our second pick - the apple was so moist and sweet

I am not a big truffle fan but all these look really good

I on the other hand hadn't had lunch and wanted something to eat before I go straight to dessert. I decided to pick something out from the ready to eat counter but the menu did look very good. L'Eto has a total of 5 chains and not all of them serve food, some have more desserts than others, some has more food. This chain in Belgravia has more food than any of the other chains, so make sure you check what your local one offers to avoid disappointment.

Outfit Post: Mommy's gift

My mom bought me this Peruvian style jumper for my birthday and I wanted to share it with you. The jumper is from an American brand called Wooden Ships and they do a lot of beautiful and comfy knit wear. Thankfully the weather is warm enough now that I don't have to wear big heavy coats anymore so I took the opportunity to wear this the other day when I had to run out to do an errand.

I styled it with a high waisted plaited skirt from Warehouse and a black turtleneck from J.Crew. I am not sure the brand of my belt but I bought it from a shop called Big Drop in Miami. My shoes are from a Japanese brand called OTA. Bag from Chanel.

A Spanish Brunch

Saturday morning we woke up to good news that Carlos and his lovely girlfriend Belen was coming over to cook us some Spanish brunch. However we probably can't really call it brunch as they didn't start cooking till 3pm, but it was all of our first meal of the day so that accounts for something.

Carlos and Belen were kind enough to make a trip to the market on North End Road to gather all the ingredients they needed which included a dozen razor clams and two huge octopus! They paid 11GBP for a dozen clams and 10GBP each for the gigantic polpo...which makes me realise how much we are over paying in high street supermarkets. Saad who is obsessed with open air markets was shocked to learn about this market that is not too far from his flat. "We are going next week" he demanded.

While Alvaro made some Tinto (red wine and Sprite) the rest of us help prepared the side dishes. But the real star of the show had to be making the octopus, I had never cooked octopus before so I found it really intriguing.

Apparently when cooking octopus you are supposed to 'surprise' it. Which means that the water must be boiling hot before you put the squid in. You should hold the octopus by the head and dip it in boiling water for 5 seconds, then take it out, then in again for another 5 seconds and do this two more times before you can throw the whole thing in.

Does NOT look appetising I have to admit
5 seconds in the hot water
out it comes
In again...
Out again

Once the octopus is sitting in the water we add the potatoes in the same pot to cook with the octopus. That way the flavour of the octopus will infuse into the potato too. After 45 minutes it was time to come out...

Cut the octopus and potato in small bite sizes and drizzle lots of olive oil and sprinkle on salt and Spanish paprika and it's ready to serve!

I am not going to lie to you, while I was watching it being prepared, seeing the whole process, I wasn't sure if I could stomach eating it. Man, octopus does NOT look good when it's not cooked...slimey goo. Eurgh. So when it was served I let other people go first. Alvaro took his first bite and exclaimed that it was amazing. So I took a bite....and oh em gee, 'amazing' doesn't even give it justice. It was the best that I've had and it all comes down to the fact that we used fresh ingredients. The squid was so soft and well cooked, the flavour of the sea was everywhere and in the potatoes and the paprika added a hint of spice that completed the dish. I've eaten this dish in Spain before but it doesn't compare to this. By the end we were fighting over the last piece!

Outfit Post: Monochrome Madness

Lately I have been obsessed with black and white combo outfit. Not sure where it has come from but I go through phases like this sometimes. I bought two monochrome dresses while I was in Miami last December and I finally wore it this pass weekend for my birthday. Both of the dresses are from Arden B and were very affordable.

I wore this one out on Saturday night to a birthday dinner with a big group of friends at Tramp. I may have looked elegant the first few hours of the night but let's just be glad no one was in the shape or form to take pictures by the end.

Love the cut out back...

This of course was what I wore to dinner with Saad at Pollen Street Social. Read about my dinner here.

I teamed both outfits with black pumps from Miu Miu but imagine how awesome it would look if I wore it with these YSL. I want them so badly...
