Pollen Street Social - Round Deux

It's my birthday last week and my Moroccan man has been stressing about where he would like to take me for dinner. "I want to take you somewhere new that you have never been, but it's so hard, you've eaten everywhere!".

Reservations was at 10pm and at 9:45 while in the taxi I still did not know where he was taking me. My head scanning with excitement for restaurants that could be in the area as we drove nearby Maddox street. Finally it was clear that he had chosen Pollen Street Social, a restaurant which opened two years ago by the man that used to run Gordon Ramsey's Maze - Jason Atherton.

My dress is from an American brand called Arden B that I found in Miami. My necklace is from Primark.

"So have you been here before?"
"Yes, but like a year ago and I always wanted to come back and try again. Last time three of us got a bit sick after eating here"
"What?!" looking rather disappointed...
"But no, I walked passed here the other day and was thinking to myself that I wanted to come back, because I don't think I got to dine properly last time. I am happy you chose this place"

Satisfied that he has made me happy we go to our table to sit down. I noticed the table next to us was on a first date and it made me smile. New love.

Amuse Bouche: Pork crackling with apple puree, crazy good olives & garlic infused dip

I have never really been a big fan of main courses, so whilst Saad took a starter and main course, I ordered 3 starters. I always find main courses boring and a bit disappointing. Does anyone else know what I mean?

Scallop sashimi with marinated turnip and snowflakes...green dollop is wasabi

Dressed crab...very good but not amazing out of this world

Couliflower & Squid..this is to die for..sooo good

Deer tartar...unless you love meat and the gamey taste I wouldn't recommend you ordering this

This is my winner: Quail cooked in cereal risotto, brioche and foie gras soup

Saad's steak..his verdict "it's good but not as good as Cut"
Rice pudding, goats cheese ice-cream and honeycomb dessert....soooo delish!

Chocolate ganache with banana ice cream

This time around I really enjoyed the food a lot more. So if you are like me, you have been once and never had the itch to go back, then I suggest you to try going again, I think you may be pleasantly surprised.  The first date next to us seemed to be getting along well too when we left they were still drinking and laughing away. Aawww
